Sister Margaret Chambers, OMC

Parish Ministry is one of Sister Margaret Chamber's loves.    She is truly committed and her parish work is within those areas that most need devoted workers. Sister Peggy goes where God beckons, and makes her home where God places her.  She is at home in rural mission parishes where a nurturing Catholic spirit is what is most needed.  She is also able to make a home in cities where the varied needs of a parish require the commitment and energy Sr. Peggy willingly gives.

Short history:

Her last work was in a Roman Catholic parish, the Church of the Holy Spirit in Winfield, Alabama http://WinfieldAL.catholicweb.com/index.cfm/about  with the Glenmary Missions.  Since Katrina hit the South, Sister Peggy has been heading further South into Mississippi whenever she could to work on the recovery efforts, demolishing or cleaning out the damaged homes--this on her "spare time."    This is clearly a ministry that touched her heart as she witnessed both the destruction, the ongoing need for help, and the wonderful people, both those hurt by this disaster, and those who volunteer to reconstruct homes and lives.  Glenmary has recently turned the parish over to the Roman Catholic diocese, in keeping with their mission, and Sister Peggy was reassigned.

Her current assignment takes her far from the deep South to California where she works with Franciscans in St. Francis Parish in Sacramento.
